I am Desperately Seeking Surnames and the family history behind them.
After I lost both of my parents in 2001 my ancestral quest began. While going through their belongings the questions started to pile up, who was this? who was that? etc. Ultimately, I decided I would try to get the answers to the question and find our ancestors. I have been working my way back in time ever since. I've made a lot of "newbie" mistakes but I've also gotten very lucky a few times! I've acquired a couple of research partners along the way as well as a few new cousins. After nine years I know this is a lifetime hobby that I enjoy sharing with family and anyone else that will listen.
Early in my search I stumbled upon an online community called Genealogy and History Library Links. This is a group of volunteer contributors that have put together a website full of valuable research information. Be sure to visit the GHLL site and leave a note on their message board to say hi!
